É com grande pesar que a CASES – Cooperativa António Sérgio para Economia Social e o INE – Instituto Nacional de Estatística assinalam a morte do Dr. Lester Salamon, no passado dia 20 de agosto.
Lester Salamon foi uma figura incontornável no estudo empírico da Sociedade Civil Sem Fins Lucrativos nos Estados Unidos e no Mundo, tendo contribuído para a conceção de um referencial internacional para o Sector das Entidades Sem Fins Lucrativos, incluindo a Conta Satélite das Instituições sem fim lucrativo. Este referencial, a par de outros, contribuiu para a compilação da Conta Satélite da Economia Social e para elaboração do Inquérito ao Trabalho Voluntário pelo INE, em parceria com a CASES.
A CASES e o INE gostariam, assim, de assinar o seu agradecimento pelo trabalho pioneiro realizado por Lester Salamon.

It is with great sorrow that CASES –António Sérgio Cooperative for Social Economy and INE – Statistics Portugal mark the death of Dr. Lester Salamon, on the 20th of August.
Lester Salamon was a key figure in the empirical study of the Non-Profit Civil Society in the United States and the World, having contributed to the design of an international benchmark for the Entities of the Non-Profit Sector, including the Satellite Account of Non-Profit Institutions. This reference, along with others, contributed to the compilation of the Social Economy Satellite Account and to the elaboration of the Survey on Voluntary Work by INE, in partnership with CASES.
Thus, CASES and INE would like to sign their gratitude for the pioneering work carried out by Lester Salamon.
