The Prize Cooperation and Solidarity António Sérgio, created by CASES in 2012, is intended to honor individuals and legal persons that, each year, have distinguished themselves most in the Social Economy sector.

In the present edition, the Prize will be awarded in the following categories:

a) Innovation and Sustainability: aims to reward Social Economy entities that have distinguished themselves for the development of projects with innovative and sustainable approaches and solutions for a socioeconomic (or environmental) issue.

b) Studies and Research: aims to reward people and entities authors of studies and research studies in the scope of Social Economy, namely, studies on Cooperatives, Mutualities, Foundations, Associations, Misericórdias and IPSS or transversal studies in the Social Economy sector.

c) Studies and Research in Lusophony (new category): aims to reward people and entities authors of studies and research studies in the scope of Social Economy, namely, studies on Associations, Cooperatives, Foundations, Mutualities or other entities of the Social Economy, or cross-cutting studies within the Social Economy sector, related to Portuguese speaking countries, excluding Portugal (exclusive works on Portugal will be covered in section b)).

d) School-related Projects: aims to reward projects developed by the school community, at all levels (first, second and third cycles of basic education, secondary education, artistic and professional education) including both public and private schools, in which students and teachers experience and disseminate theories and practices of Social Economy.

e) Journalistic Works: aims to reward journalists that are authors of published journalistic works on a theme directly associated with the Social Economy in Portugal.

f) Social Economy Personality Honor Award 2020: aims to reward individuals for their dedication, action and study in the area of ​​Social Economy, namely, for their career in the management of entities and/or study of the sector; promotion of innovative and sustainable actions; creation or reinforcement of interinstitutional dynamics; dissemination and contribution to the public relevance of the theme; capacity for social mobilization and improvement of the sector’s relations with the State. The Honor Award is divided into two subcategories, being awarded to personalities that distinguished themselves by their career – Honor to the Career; and for entrepreneurial capacity – Honor to Entrepreneurial Capacity.

For each of the five categories from a) to e) there is a prize of 3000€ and, for the category of School-related Projects, according to the Protocol signed between CASES and the National Council of Financial Supervisors (CNSF), a module on financial training is also awarded.

The Social Economy Personality Honor Award 2020 does not have a monetary value, being merely honorary. There is also a partnership with the inniciative Social Innovation Portugal, focused on Innovation and Sustainability category.

Applications take place between June 1st and July 31st, 2020, except for the category of School related Projects, whose application period will be from June 1st to September 30th, 2020. Instructions and form will be available on the CASES website (www.cases.pt).
